Whether we realize it or not…we all have a personal brand. But most of us don’t break down our personal brands the same way we might with our corporate brands.
The better we can communicate our authentic and meaningful personal brands, the better our chances are of getting maximum value in our corporate brands.
The path to getting full value for our corporate brand runs through individuals! I’ve seen a lot of highly talented people crush sales with an average corporate brand…and I’ve also seen individuals with poor personal brands “under monetize” their corporate brands.
So how might we better tap into our personal brands? I’ve identified 𝟯 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿:
𝟭. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
Think of this as your resume. By being transparent about where you went to school, your body of work, and success stories with similar clients, you’re showing them your ability to achieve SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES.
𝟮. 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲
Why you vs. anyone else is all about the personal relationship you’re developing with the person you’re talking to. By being 100% genuine with them and telling them what makes you unique, you are separating yourself from the pack. This is about your ability to GAIN TRUST.
𝟯. Experience + “YOU” = Confidence and Brand Separation
The combination of your level of experience and your unique personal traits will lead to greater trust, as well as a better desire to connect on a personal and working relationship.
At the end of the day, 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. And your personal brand might just be the tiebreaker in someone working with you over someone else.
Some might call it a popularity contest, but I like to think of it as a trust & TRUTH contest. You’re always going to have an edge if you’re trusted and can authentically communicate your personal brand. And THAT is the key to getting someone to work with your corporate brand!
